Wilma Jean Steagall Obituary
Wilma Jean Steagall, 90, of Lancaster, KY, passed away December 31, 2025, peacefully in her home. She was born September 24, 1935, in Carter County, to the late Pearl Goodman.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Donal Vernon Steagall; her grandparents Edd “Gran” and Lydia “Mammy” Goodman; her aunt Gertie Skaggs; and her uncle Add Goodman.
Wilma Jean Steagall, more widely know as just “Jean” or “Mammy” was a longtime member of White Oak Holiness Church. She was a devout wife, mother and homemaker. She loved all animals but was particularly fond of cats. She loved to be outside whether it was for a walk, to dip her toes in the creek, or to simply sit on the porch and enjoy the fresh air. She enjoyed a good knick-knack to showcase in her home, which she took immense pride in. Many would describe her as being deeply rooted in her faith in Jesus and a force to be reckoned with.
She is survived by one son, Timothy (Debbie) Steagall of Lancaster, KY; two grandchildren, Christopher Steagall (Amanda Adams) and Ashley Steagall (Andrew Day); four great grandchildren, Madison Steagall, Lilly Steagall, Lucy Day, and Rew Day; one step great grandchild, Clay Houp; numerous nieces and nephews; and other family members and friends.
In additon to family, there were other special people in her life: her neighbors and friends Don and Carolyn Hawkins and Lester and Patricia Reeves, as well as all the members of White Oak Holiness Church.
Her spunkiness, laughter, and ability to say whatever was on her mind will be missed by those that knew and loved her.
