William Franklin Lear, 81, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at his home. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosie Lee Ray. William was born on April 3, 1938 to the late James and Nell Lawson Lear. William was a farmer all his life.
Along with his wife, Rosie, William is survived by five sons, Doug Rollins (Katie) of Paint Lick, Dale Rollins (DeeDee) of Richmond, Bill Lear of Lancaster, Carl Lear of Paint Lick and Matthew Lear of Lancaster; Three Daughters, Carylon Ray (Wilbert) of Bryantsville, Jean Gentry (Tim) of Lancaster and Ruth Grow (Stacy) of Lancaster; one brother, Bobby Lear of Richmond; a sister, Faye Lear of Richmond; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
William was preceded in death by a son, Mark Rollins and thirteen brothers and sisters, George Lear, Shirley Lear, Green Lear, Joe Lear, Sherman Lear, Teddy Lear, Barbara Hiatt, Mary Jane Barnes, Irene Shelton, Charolette Lear, Columbia Rose Lear, Margie Lear and Hattie Lunsford.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Lancaster with Bro. Jerry Browning officiating. Burial will follow at Manse Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, October 11, 2019 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Wilbert Ray, James Lear, Craig Lear, Wayne Ray, Michael Gentry and Stacy Grow. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roger Chris and Sam Lear.
