William Emerson

William Aaron “Big E” Emerson, 59, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020 in Rockcastle County, KY.  He was born on August 17, 1960 in Lexington, KY to the late Fredrick Emerson and Elizabeth Routt Strode.  He was raised by his foster parents Helen and William Huffman from the age of 2.  Helen called him “Boy” from an early age on.

William attended and graduated from Garrard County High School, where he played basketball and football and earned the nickname “Big E”.  He worked a total of 16 years at Kentucky Utilities Dix Dam, Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) and Matsushita.

William was a huge University of Kentucky fan and loved watching the games with friends and family.  He also loved to cook and shared this love by inviting everyone over to BBQs and holiday gatherings.  He will forever be loved and remembered for his smile and caring personality.

He leaves to mourn his three sons, Antwoine (Kim) Linton of Douglasville, GA, William (Aisha) Linton of Lancaster, KY and Aaron Stone of Irvin, KY; four sisters, Lillian Spady of Fayetteville, GA, Helen Emerson of Lexington, KY, Nettie Benton of Lexington, KY and Tammy Walker (Paul) Pearson of Georgetown, KY; five brothers, David Walker of Elizabethtown, KY, Keith Walker of Fairfield, Connecticut, Fred Emerson of Raleigh, NC, Jeff Walker of Kansas City, Missouri and Kevin Walker of Lexington, KY; four grandchildren, Ashland and Joseph Linton of Douglasville, GA, Aubriana Linton of Lancaster, KY and Arianna Stone of Irvin, KY and one aunt, Martha Gray of Danville, KY.

William was also preceded in death by grandson Aiden Stone and a host of aunts, uncle, cousins and friends. 

Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, February 22, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Lancaster, KY.  Visitation will be 6-8 PM Friday at the church. Burial will be in Duncantown Cemetery in Lancaster, KY.
