William "Bill" Douglas Doty Sr.

William "Bill" Douglas Doty Sr., 83, of Fayette County, formerly of Paint Lick, Kentucky, passed away Friday, August 26, 2022 at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Kathryn Doty of Lexington. Bill was born on November 27, 1938, in Madison County, KY to the late John Harrison and Mary Turner Doty. 

Bill’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather. 

He attended Mason High School in Lancaster, Kentucky. After high school, Bill went on to be a truck driver for UPS for over 28 years. He was a faithful member of Paint Lick Baptist Church.

Bill was an avid UK Basketball fan and enjoyed many hobbies including, traveling, motorcycles, westerns, and listening to music.

Also surviving are his children, William Doty Jr. (Brenda) of Lexington, KY; Cheryl Mitchell(Terrance) of Cincinnati, OH; three stepdaughters, Nina Story of Danville, KY, Edie Anderson of Lancaster, KY, and Djuana Green of Lexington, KY; three sisters, Jacqueline Lawson(Lawrence) of Lexington, KY, Beverly Richardson(Maurice) of Stone Mountain, GA, and Jerri Doty-Elmore of Newport, VA; grandchildren, Timothy Coleman II, William Doty III, Justin Doty, Christopher Coleman, Derrick Anderson, Stephon Anderson, Michelle Ballew (Brent), Keshia Story, and Brittany Green; fifteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bill, along with his parents, was preceded in death by his previous wife, Katie Kavanaugh Doty, a son, Anthony Dwight Doty, and a granddaughter, Jamie D. Green-Johnson.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Spurlin Funeral Home with Rev. David McPherson officiating.

Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 PM Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Duncantown Cemetery.
