Walter Rounsifer III Obituary

Walter E. Rounsifer III, 68, of Lancaster, passed away February 26, 2022 at his home. He was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on June 30, 1953 to the late Walter E. Rounsifer II and the late Crystal Hicks Yates (William Robert). 


He was a proud Marine and retired as a nurse from the VA Hospital. Wally was a loving son, companion, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. 


Survivng is his companion, Charlotte J. Keeton-Herring of Lancaster; sons, Jack Walter Rounsifer (Farrin) of Richmond, Gary Lee Rounsifer (Darla) of Germany and Shane Matthew Rounsifer (Xena) of Danville; siblings, Linda Diane Taylor (George), Darlene Lola Hicks and William "Butch" Rounsifer; step-mother, Chris Rounsifer of Michigan; step-children, Joly Ramirez, Ellie Avina, Lisa Quinlin (Brian),  Virginia "Jinger" Butler (James),and Danny Herring II (Rochell); grandchildren, Mira Rounsifer, Layla Rounsifer, Leona Rounsifer, Jaxson Baez, Brenden Quinlin, Lisa Michelle Bell Fowler, Margarita Johnson, Haley Herring, Olivia Herring, Tyler Rogers, Danny Herring III and Jaxxson Herring II and great grandchildren, Anastasia Fowler, Levi Ritchie and Wyatt Ritchie.


He is preceded in death by his parents, step-father, and a step-daughter, Tonda Herring.


Funeral services will be 1pm Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Spurlin Funeral Home with Terry Taulbee officiating. Burial will military honors will be at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9pm Monday, March 7, 2022 at the funeral home.


Pallbearers will be Jack, Gary and Shane Rounsifer, James Butler, Danny Herring II, and Matt Houp.
