Ruby Marie Greer Padgett, 93, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Charleston Health Care Center In Danville. Ruby was born March 14, 1925 to the late Isaac Newton and Gertrude Vanover Greer of Pike County, Kentucky. She was a homemaker all her life and a member of Double Springs Baptist Church in Waynesburg, Kentucky.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Cecil Ray Padgett and Pete Padgett; children, Stephanie Padgett, Sylvia Bradshaw, Naomi Cooper and Larry Padgett; grandsons, Lonnie Monroe, Jr. and Captain Robert “Bo” Barnes, great- grandson, Anthony Padgett, Jr.; very special friend, “My Judy” Green, sisters, Nora Sanders, Bertha Bates, Callie Acton and June Halcomb; brothers, Calvin, Colbert, Roy, Albert, Eddie, Marion, Victor, Charley, Lacy and Lonnie Greer.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Barnes (Ronnie) of Lancaster; sons, Gary Padgett of Indianapolis, Indiana, Kerry Padgett (Susan) of Danville and Julian Padgett (Carrie) of Frankfort; daughter in law, Mary Padgett of Washington State; sons in law, Randy Cooper of Portage, Michigan and Jimmie Bradshaw of Indianapolis, Indiana, twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, a step great-grandson, two great-great grandchildren, several very special nieces and nephews and very special friends, Michelle Green Lemonds, Michael Green, Sarah Carmack and Raymond Carmack.
Funeral services 1PM Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Spurlin Funeral Home of Lancaster with Pastor Phillip Meade and Dr. Jay Padgett officiating. Visitation will be from 11AM-1PM on Wednesday. Burial will follow in Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Waynesburg, Kentucky.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Ronnie S. Barnes, Kevin Bradshaw, Gary Padgett, Jr., Shannon Padgett, Aaron Padgett, Anthony Padgett, Michael Green and Dale Halcomb.
Honorary pallbearers will include granddaughters, Dava Walsh, Cecilia Workman, Meagan Raynor, Jamie Fleming, Jennifer Kerbaugh and Jordan Padgett.
A special thank you to all the wonderful caregivers at Charleston Health Care Center for taking such good care of Ruby during her years there.
