Raymond Douglas "Daddy Dee" Hatfield, 93, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, April 13, 2020 at his home. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Geneva Bolton Hatfield. Dee was born on September 30, 1926 in Lincoln County, KY to the late John and Lucille Thompson Hatfield.
Dee was drafted to serve in the United States Army during WWII while he was still in high school, but allowed to graduate from Lancaster High School before leaving for Basic Training. He was a lifelong farmer, and retired from American Greetings.
Dee was a faithful member of Bethel Christian Church, where he was an Elder.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy Carolyn Smith(deceased Larry Smith) of Berea, KY and Rita Gail Roberts (Mike) of Berea, KY; a brother, Bobby Hatfield (Jean) of Lady Lake, Florida; a special friend, Maxine Sebastian, five grandchildren, Jennifer Allen Muncy (Brent), Jason Beasley(Derick), Dale Smith, Todd Smith and Monica Bucher (Chris); eight great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
A private funeral will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Spurlin Funeral Home. A private burial will follow in Lancaster Cemetery.
The funeral service will be live streamed on Spurlin Funeral Home of Lancaster Facebook page for public viewing at 2:30 PM.
A public memorial will be held at a later date.
