Michael Patrick Murphy

Michael Patrick Murphy, 44, of Lancaster, Kentucky, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024 at his home on Lexington Road. He was born in Boyle County on April 12, 1979, the son of Mike and Dorothy Murphy. Michael grew up under the love and spiritual guidance of his parents, family, and church leaders at Lancaster Baptist Church, where he accepted Christ as his savior at age 10. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1995 as a member of Troop 180. He graduated from Garrard County High School and attended the University of Kentucky.

As a young adult he worked for 20+ years alongside his Dad, as co-owner of Garrard Hardware Store. His friendly and humorous personality helped make customers satisfied with their service and many became friends rather than just customers. He could do and fix almost anything from a weed-eater to an electrical or plumbing problem. After the store was sold, he became a valued employee at ACE Hardware in Danville. His hearts desire was to help others and be a bold witness for Christ. 

Michael is survived by his loving parents, Mike(Jan) Murphy and Dorothy Murphy, three daughters whom he adored, Ashlyn (Zach), Anna Kate, and Audrey Murphy. He was preceded in death by another precious daughter, Alexis, his younger sister, Kara, maternal grandparents, Roy and Hildreth Patterson of Lancaster and Floyd and Sally Murphy of Louisville. 

Funeral services will be 3pm Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Lancaster Baptist Church with Bro. Matt Cooke officiating.  Burial will follow in Lancaster Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 and from 1-3pm on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Lancaster Baptist Church. 

Pallbearers will be Sean Lally, Brian Lally, Kevin Lally, Zachary Gay, Brian Marquess, and Dr. Adam Patterson. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Hon. Bill Oliver, Dr. Jennifer Patterson, Scott Sowder, Dr. Rod Bates and Jen Crace.
