Mary Lee Sharp, 87, of Lancaster, passed away October 5, 2022 at Landmark of Lancaster. She was born on December 18, 1934 in Lancaster to the late William and Jessamine Burdine Sharp. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Horace Sharp.
Mary Lee retired after 40 years from Whitaker Bank Corporation. She started working at Citizens Bank in Danville, moving to Garrard Bank and Trust Company as Trust Officer, Director and retired as Vice President. After retirement, Mary Lee was a vital employee and advocate of Spurlin Funeral Home. She was a DAR and DAV member for many years. Mary Lee was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church, where she played the piano for over 60 years.
Surviving are nieces, Libby Spurlin (Jim) and Judy Black (Charlie), both of Lancaster, Angela Jones (Bruce) and Mary Witt Sharp, both of Danville; a nephew, CW Gay (Anna) of Lancaster; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Lida Gay, a brother, Billy Sharp and a niece, Mary Steele.
Funeral services will be 1pm Monday, October 10, 2022 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Fred Willett and Rev. Bill Curwood officiating. Burial in Lancaster Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be James David Spurlin II, Charlie Black, Chris Fathergill, Bob Townes, Eddie Murphy and Stanley Coffey.
Honorary pallbearers will be CW Gay, Eddie Sharp, Mike Sharp, Tommy Drew, Geraldine and Bobby Dietrich, Evelyn Ball, Jenny Lynn Whittaker and Jack and Judy Preston.
Memorial contributions are preferred to Pleasant Grove Christian Church.
