Mary Frances Major, 85, of Garrard County, passed away November 30, 2025 at UK Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Earl Major. Mary was born in Garrard County, Kentucky on March 6, 1940 to the late James Corbet and Mattie Mae Upton Stinnett.


Mary loved cooking and was famous for her chocolate fudge. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and canning what she grew. She also was a big UK basketball and volleyball fan.


In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by brothers Thomas, David, Bobby and Larry Stinnett.


She leaves behind her loving husband, Earl; son Doug Major of Lancaster; daughter, Cheryl Ann (Rick) Bryant of Boyle Co.; grandson, Timothy Scott Tuggle of Lancaster; 2 great-grandchildren Evan Scott Tuggle and Jayson Wesley Tuggle of Boyle Co.; sister Becky Stinnett Smith of Mercer Co.; and numerous nieces and nephews.


A private family graveside service will be at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
