Mary Geneva Fawley, 86, of Lancaster, passed away October 12, 2021 at home. She is survived by her loving husband, Jack Fawley. Mary was born on August 28,1935 in Lancaster, KY to the late John and Lucille Purcell Carroll.
She grew up in Preachersville and attended Crab Orchard School. She was an employee of Surgical Associates of St. Joseph Medical Park in Lexington for many years.
Mary and Jack were married in March of 1973.
Mary lived for her family. She enjoyed riding and caring for her horses, fishing, flowers, bird watching, gardening, cooking, and celebrating the holidays with family. Mary was a faithful member of Lancaster United Methodist Church and previously served on many committees.
Also surviving is a daughter, Joan Garn of Lancaster; step-children, Terry Fawley of South Bend, Indiana, Debbie Schafer(Calvin) of Lakeville, Indiana, and Vickie Roush of South Bend, Indiana; two grandchildren, Jennifer Lorge of Nicholasville and Sonyia Christine of Lancaster; six great-grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ray Carroll.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 AM on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Spurlin Funeral Home of Lancaster with Pastor Joshua Wiggs officiating . Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Sunday, October 17, 2021 at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville.
Pallbearers are Jerry Purcell, Roger Purcell, Danny Purcell, Tom Lorge, Bobby Tussey, and Joe Montgomery.
Honorary Pallbearers are Ann Gordon, Kristina Hudson, Kim James, Jeanette Moore and Tammy Sears.
