Marlene Edgington Long, 90, of Lancaster passed away Wednesday August 6, 2025 at Baptist Health in Lexington, KY. She was born on January 29, 1935 in Garrard County, KY to the late Henry and Edna B. Sebastian Edgington. 

Marlene worked for the Garrard County Board of Education, retiring from the cafeteria after many years. She then went on to be a bus monitor, a job she dearly loved. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who was lovingly known as Mamommy. Marlene was a faithful member of Good Hope Baptist Church.

Surviving is a son, Emit “Tad” Long (Jackie) of Lexington; a daughter, Del-Leda Johnson (Johnny) of Lancaster; two sisters, Norma Rankin and Sandy Vanderpool (Leslie) both of Lancaster; grandchildren, Derek Johnson (Rebekah) and Jordan Johnson, both of Lancaster; great-grandchildren, Andrew Johnson, Ryker Johnson, Layla Johnson, Jacie Means and Kaelyn Means. 

Funeral services will be 4:00 pm Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Spurlin Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Baker officiating. Visitation will be from 1-4 pm on Sunday at the funeral home. 

Pallbearers will be Derek Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Johnny Johnson, Danny Rankin and Barry Rankin. 

Honorary pallbearers are Randy Ellis, Jameson Flynn, Jonathan Aldridge, Daniel Edgington, Barry Walton, Ollie Edgington, Jim Edgington, and Jerry Nickel.
