Marion Fannin Obituary
Marion Aaron Fannin, born December 1, 1943, passed peacefully at home (his favorite place) to heaven on June 22, 2024 at 80 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vyda Pieratt Fannin & Aaron Casper Fannin, & his brother J.C. Fannin. He was born in Ashland, Kentucky but grew up in Morehead - which he visited often & always saw as his Mayberry. His hobbies were many: golf, running, fishing, hunting, tennis, board games, and cards. He was a big UK fan, & a "player of many sports & master of none" (his words). He loved his family & taught his children to play their best at sports. He loved to make people laugh, & will be remembered for his pranks, his jokes & his fun-loving manner. He became a Christian at age 15. He was an active member of Forks of Dix River Baptist Church - he was a deacon & sang in the choir - a Gideon doing jail ministry, & a Mason. He loved to leave a Christian tract with restaurant servers, with a generous tip hidden inside.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Hazel Hutchinson Fannin (at age 17 he worked as a carhop to buy her engagement ring) & four children: Jamie Baker, Jennifer Fannin, Pete Fannin, & David Fannin (Cindy). His four grandchildren are: Amelia Baker King (Aaron), Jenny Katherine Baker Ridenour (Matthew), Brittany Fannin & Aaron Fannin (Kahley). He left seven great grandchildren: Cadence, Felicity, Boyd & Melody King; & Milo, Penelope & Juliet Ridenour
