Maria "Poh" Korica, 79, passed away February 13, 2024 at Landmark of Lancaster, KY. She was born on December 5, 1944 in Slovenia to the late Frank and Marija Serbedija Poh.
Maria at age six came with her mother and step father, Petar Grubor to Ellis Island to live in America. She settled in Chicago and in 1970 left Chicago and moved to Arizona to raise her family. Maria enjoyed reading and loved her Hallmark Movies.
She was a member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in Phoenix, Arizona.
Surviving are two daughters, Laura Sandford (James) of Lancaster, and Vera Stempski of Chandler, Arizona; two sons, Steve Korica of Ontario, California and Dan Korica of Gilbert, Arizona; six grandchildren, Michael Parkhurst, John Stempski, Mason Korica, Erin Korica, Nolan Korica, and Nicole Korica; and one great grandchild, Selena; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Maria was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Nicky Poh, Tony Poh, Patty Grubor and Joey Grubor; and son in law, James Stempski.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Monastery in Libertyville, Illinois with Rev. Petar Sailovic officiating.
A graveside service will follow after the funeral service at St. Sava Monastery Cemetery.
