Lorena Sebastian Casey, 99, of Lancaster, passed away Friday, April 24, 2020 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. She was born on December 18, 1920 in Garrard County to the late Butler and Nora Prewitt Sebastian. Mrs. Casey was preceded in death by her loving husband, William H. Casey.
She was a homemaker with a love for flower gardening and helping her husband on the farm. Through the years, she was a meticulous seamstress and spent many hours quilting. She made numerous hand pieced and applique' quilts, taking great care with her stitches and designs.
She was a faithful member of Beech Grove Baptist Church until her age and health no longer allowed her to attend.
Surviving is a daughter, Phyllis Brogle (Paul) of Lancaster; sister, Ruby Casey of Nicholasville; two granddaughters, Deborah Korn (Greg) and Susan Gilliam (Mark), both of Lancaster; great grandchildren, Kristen Denton, Katrina Masters (Shane), Courtney Cole (Michael) and Matthew Gilliam; and great-great grandchildren, Allyson, Slayter and Benjamin Denton, Liam and Blakely Masters and Naomi and Simon Cole.
Along with her husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Irene Huffman, Bertha Prather, Nellie Prewitt and Minnie Ann Lane and two brothers, Gordon Sebastian and McCellen Sebastian.
A private family funeral will be on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Lancaster Cemetery.
Due to the restrictions of Covid-19 and not being able to have a public funeral, the family would like to honor these individuals as her honorary pallbearers, Gareth Lane, Bobby Carrier, David Hoskins, Greg Korn, Michael Cole, Shane Masters, Mark Gilliam, Matthew Gilliam, Kenneth Prewitt, GH Miller and Michael Sebastian.
