Logan Arnold Jr. Obituary

Logan "Buddy" Arnold Jr., 95, of Garrard County, passed away May 8, 2023 at his home. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 74 years, Betty Arnold.

Buddy was born on November 29, 1927 in Garrard County to the late Logan and Lillian Kelley Arnold. 

Buddy served honorably for our country in the United States Army during in WWII; he farmed for over 55 years specializing in tobacco and cattle; worked for the Kentucky State Highway Department; Co-Owner of Arnold and Rogers Restaurant; Board member of Farm Bureau for many years, where he was president for 3; Co- Chairman of Tobacco Festival for many years; Lifetime board member of Garrard County Fair; Member of the Lions Club; DAV Auxiliary Lancaster Chapter 25; a Master Mason; Kentucky Colonel; substitute rural mail carrier; and construction worker.

Buddy was a lifelong member of Lancaster Baptist Church, where he served as a lifetime deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Training Union Teacher for the church and usher.

He loved his family, church, and helping his community anyway he could. He also loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and going to Florida for the winter. 

Surviving are three daughters, Diana Ross of Lancaster, Montie Prewitt of Lancaster, and Linda Stratton (David) of Junction City; three sisters, Betty Jo Wood (Jim Gulley), Margaret Simpson, Virginia Ray; sister in law, Betty McCulley Arnold; six grandchildren, Michelle Smart, Terri Prewitt, Chris Stratton (Misty), Barry Prewitt (Natasha), Amy Bell (Steve) and Daniel Stratton (Kelsey) and nineteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Buddy, along with his wife and parents was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Middlekamp and Alice Gilbert; a brother, Richard Arnold; son in law, Gary Prewitt; granddaughter in law, Amanda Stratton; and special nephew, Jeff Curtis.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Lancaster Baptist Church with Bro. Harold Best, Bro. Matthew Cooke and Bro. Bill Morrow officiating. 

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Lancaster Baptist Church with an additional visitation from 11:00 till time of service at the church on Saturday.

Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.

Active pallbearers are Chris Stratton, Barry Prewitt, Daniel Stratton, Mickey Arnold, Billy Caudill, and Jimmy Ross.

Honorary pallbearers are Ruth Tracy, John & Margie Barker, Betty Ross, Roy Gibson, Sherry Schwartz, Andy & Tanya Morrow and girls, Colby Clay Arnold, Freddy Logan Simpson, J.K. Simpson, and Mike Curtis.
