Joseph Mays, 70, of Lancaster, passed away January 22, 2022 in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born in Washington County, Kentucky to the late Joseph E. and Laura Mays. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Betty Ballew Mays.
Joseph retired from RR Donelly and National Casket Company. He was a Deacon and faithful member of St. Paul Predestinarian Church. Joesph loved to garden, go to flea markets, and make walking canes.
He is survived by a son, Curtis Ballew (Michelle) of Lancaster, three daughters, Betty Jo Harper (James) of Lexington, Marilyn Moses of Louisville and Phoebe Johnson (Keith) of Arizona; four sisters, Laura Reed(John) of Bardstown, Mary L. Edlen(William) of Louisville, Ella Keen(David) of Bardstown, and Sarah Fields of Rockcastle; grandchildren, James Mays, Brooke Ballew, Whitney Moses, Kevin Johnson, Blake Moses(Diana), Joysha Luhman , Madeline Ballew and Miles Ballew and great grandchildren, Aubri Guy, Harper Ballew, Cario Boyd, Kru Gaston, Xiaver Mays, Cataleya Moses and River Moses.
Funeral services will be 7pm Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Spurlin Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Bowman and James McPherson officiating. Visitation will be from 5pm-7pm on Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Terry Lee Dunn., Brent Ballew, J Wade Kavanaugh, Trent Ison, Steven Baker, and Aaron Isreal.
