John K. Underwood

John K. Underwood, 56, of Lincoln County, formerly of Lancaster, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021 in Lincoln County. He was born on August 11, 1964 in Lancaster to the late Joe and Shirley Underwood. 

John worked for R R Donnelley for many years in Danville, KY and he was an expert electrician. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan. John loved his grandchildren immensely. 

Surviving is a son, Josh Underwood(Diana Bennett) of Lancaster; a daughter, Ashley Murphy(Jordan) of Lancaster; a sister, Joetta Mertz(Steve) of Junction City; a sister in law, Jamma Underwood of Somerset; and three grandchildren, Jace Underwood, Riley Murphy, and Logan Murphy.

Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother, Jeff Underwood.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Rodney Montgomery officiating. 

Visitation will be 6:00- 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. 

Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery. 

Active pallbearers are Tony Underwood, Steve Mertz, Jordan Murphy, Ron Moberly, Eric Rogers, and Justin Terawood.

Honorary pallbearers are Doug Tapp, Trish Tapp, Matt Feldman, Dean Underwood, Warren Patterson, and Jackie Underwood.
