John Allen King, 87, of Garrard County, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022 at his home. He was born January 3, 1935 in Garrard County to the late William Lloyd and Mayme Ball King.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bertie Turner King.

John retired from Whirlpool after 24 years. After retiring, he and his son raised cattle together. He was a proud cattle and tobacco farmer for over 66 years and was past president of Farm Bureau.

Surviving is a son, John King, Jr. (Leslie) of Lancaster; two daughters, Susan Herrick of Lancaster and Carol Taylor (Tracy) of Danville; grandchildren, Kristen Anderson (Mark), Josh Dennis, Mayme Taylor, Drake King, and Lincoln King; one great grandchild, Lawson Anderson and a sister in law, Patty King of Danville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Thomas Ray King and William Alexander King.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday July 12, 2022 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Bro Jonathan Grizzell officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 PM Monday, July 11, 2022 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Billy C. Doolin, Scott Barnes, Stephen King, Dustin Skinner, Caleb Skinner, and Freddie Edgington.

Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Ray, Matthew Tyler, Gordon and Carolyn Bourne, Art and Becky Gaffney, Kevin Brickey, Buddy Arnold, Harold Coyle, Lee Christopher, Bobby Smith, William David King and Garrard County Farm Bureau Board Members.
