Jimmy Darrell Dixon, 69, of Lancaster, formerly of Sand Hill, Cumberland, Kentucky, passed away December 26, 2022 at his sisters home. He was born April 18, 1953 in Cumberland, Kentucky to the late Ed and Gracie Hall Dixon.
Jimmy served in the US ARMY, serving as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He worked as a coal miner for over 10 years and then retired after 17 years as a lineman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, woodworking, and exploring the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. He was an avid outdoorsman, very knowledgeable of the plant and wildlife of Eastern Kentucky.
He is survived by a sister, LaVaughn Creech, of Lancaster, KY, brothers, Jerry Holcomb (Marianne) of Jeffersonville IN and Lowell Dixon (Debbie) of Corbin, Kentucky; and nieces, Kathy Crawley-Adkins (Richard Dean) of Lexington, KY and Diana Roaden (David) of Corbin, KY. One special nephew; Clayton Alex Crawley (Jami Smith) of Versailles, Kentucky.
The family wishes to thank the compassionate caregivers of Hospice.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date in his beloved Black Mountain; Cumberland, Kentucky. In memory of Jimmy, the family request a tree be planted in the Spring of 2023.
