Janrose Hurt, 72, Mother of Kendra Ananias and Janson Hurt, wife of Ken Hurt passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at Landmark in Lancaster, Kentucky. She was born September 22, 1948 at her home in Walden, Kentucky to the late Roberta and Herman Rhodes.
She retired as a teacher in the Garrard County School System after 33 years in 2003. She taught sixth and seventh grades and was an exceptional teacher. Jan coached the Garrard Middle School girls basketball team for 20 years and served as an assistant to the high school girls’ team for one year. She also coached the girl’s high school golf team for several years. She was also an avid, competitive golfer.
Along with her husband, she is survived by her daughter Kendra (Stephen) Ananias, son Janson (Sharon) Hurt, four grandchildren Riley and Lucas Ananias, Jake and Connor Hurt She is also survived by nine sisters and one brother, Arlene (Jim) Ball, Barbara (Scotty) Ferguson, Brenda Keith, Anna Tennerino, Jessie (Gary) Morgan, Larry Rhodes, Vicky (Don) Wallbaum, Debbie (Harry) Hooks, Sherrill Bentley, Charlotte (Myron) McCoy. Jan is preceded in death by her mother (Roberta) and father Herman, brothers David (Barbara) Rhodes and Herman (Mary) Rhodes, a brother-in-law Sherril Keith, and a nephew Kevin Keith. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday January 29, 2021 at Spurlin Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers are Jake Hurt, Stephen Ananias, Raymond Smith, and Tyler Smith.
Honorary pallbearers are Connor Hurt, Lucas Ananias, and Kayden Cannon
Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.
