James Garland Sparks, Sr., 84, of Odenville, Alabama, formerly of Garrard County, Kentucky, passed away June 10, 2023 at his home. James was born August 10, 1938 to the late Eugene and Christine Osborne Sparks. He leaves behind his loving wife Lynn Sparks.
In addition to his wife, James leaves behind three sons, Jimmy (Diane) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Tim (Melinda) Sparks of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, and Brian (Lisa) Sparks of Springville, Alabama; three daughters, Tammy Sparks of Richmond, Kentucky, Alice Sparks of Lexington, Kentucky and Jamie (Mark) Buto of Ocala, Florida; step-daughter Joy (Sean) O'Donnell of Trussville, Alabama; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; seventeen great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Metker of Stanford, Kentucky, Joyce (Allen) Day of Paint Lick, Kentucky; one brother, Ronnie (Peggy) Sparks of Paint Lick, Kentucky; nine nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Sparks and Bobby Sparks; four grandchildren and two nephews.
James accepted the Lord as his Savior while he was in the military at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He attended church near his home in Alabama. He was a retired truck driver for Continental Can Company and Walmart.
Cremation rites have been honored and his ashes will be buried in Alabama.
A celebration of life will be held at Leavell Green Christian Church, 3206 Highway 954, Paint Lick, Kentucky on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at 2:00 PM. All friends and family are invited to attend.
