James Hogan Arnold, 99, of Lancaster, passed away Saturday July 15, 2023 at his home. He was born on October 11, 1923 in Garrard County, KY to the late Walter T. and Ella Mae Hagan Arnold. Hogan was a lifelong farmer and served in the Army during WWII stationed in India, he served at Tezgaon with the 1346th Army Air Force Base Unit with Air Transport Command where he received two battle stars.
Hogan was a member of Lancaster Methodist Church.
Surviving are three grandchildren, Olivia Gardner of Lancaster, Wesley Cravens Jr. of Nicholasville and Donna Johnson (Jeremy) of Lancaster; five great grandchildren, Sarah Gardner, Ethan Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Gavin Cravens, and Sasha Cravens; two great great grandchildren, Thea Gilliam and Esme Gilliam; and two close friends, Stella Estes and Janet Smith.
Hogan was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Arnold; a daughter, Karen Sue Arnold; five brothers, Walter Pete Arnold, Andrew Arnold, AT Arnold, Samuel Drennan Arnold, and Cecil B Arnold; four sisters, Pauline Hulett, Christine Arnold, Louise Caudill and Frances Rubble;
Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday July 20, 2023 at Spurlin Funeral Home. A Masonic Rites service will begin at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday July 21, 2023 at Lancaster Methodist Church with Dr. Bill T. Arnold and Pastor Joshua Wiggs officiating.
Burial will follow in Lancaster Cemetery with full military honors.
