Jackie Preston, 77, of Garrard County, passed away on March 10, 2025 at home. He was born on March 26, 1947 to the late Leslie and Nellie Brim Preston.
Jack was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 452 for 49 years. He was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching W.J.L.C. on tv at night.
In his younger days Jack liked to fish and hunt. His greatest hobby was gardening. He always did a good job. When grandchildren came, he loved doing things with them. Watching his grandsons playing ball and granddaughters showing off. He liked sitting on the back porch in his rocking chair watching the birds.
Jack would drive the lawn mower with grandchildren in a wagon behind him on Sundays. He loved his family so much.
He was called Daddy by his sons and Papaw by his grandsons. Some called him Mr. Perfect. He liked things done right.
He is survived by the love of his life, wife Judy Herring Preston; two sons, he was so proud of, Jackie Preston, Jr. and Jimmy Dean (Ann-Maree) Preston; grandsons James Preston, Matthew Preston, Joseph Preston, Jared Preston, Justin Preston; step-grandson, Alex Pope; granddaughter, Brystal Preston; step-granddaughters, Kacy Boyles and Amber Daugherty; great grandsons Jackson Preston and Joshua Preston, great granddaughters his special little Elleanor Preston and Aubrey Preston; sister Judy Murphy of Nicholasville; sisters-in-laws, Jamesetta Preston of Stanford and Rita (Gilbert) Robinson of Somerset; and brother-in-law, Marshel (Dana) Herring of Harrisburg, North Carolina.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jerry Preston; sisters Joyce Jarvis and Loretta Sensabaugh; and brother-in-law, George Herring and sister-in-law, Cheryl Everly.
He will be missed so much by his family. He was greatly loved.
Services will be be 1:00 pm Monday, March 17, 2025 at Spurlin Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Braswell & Bro. Jerry Browning officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm and Monday from 12:00 pm until service time.
Burial will follow the service at Lancaster Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, James, Matthew, Joseph, Jared, Justin, and Alex. Honorary pallbearer will be granddaughter, Brystal.
Spurlin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
