Iva Long

Iva Jewell Davis Long, 95, of Lancaster, passed away December 9, 2022 at Landmark of Lancaster. She was born August 31, 1927 in Garrard County, Kentucky to the late Harlen and Edna Hall Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Gordon Long. 

Iva was a strong, faithful woman, who worked very hard for her family. She worked many jobs to provide for her family, including working for Montgomery Ward, Cowdens, Lexington Police Department as a Crossing Guard, and Garden Springs Cafeteria for over 27 years. She was so helpful, a giver, always thinking of others. Iva loved gardening, sewing and was a country girl at heart. Iva loved her church and being a Sunday School teacher through the years. She was a member of Broadway Baptist Church In Lexington and attended Forks of Dix River Baptist Church. 

Surviving are two daughters, Judy Duggins (Larry) of Lancaster and Patty Adams (Huey) of Lexington; grandchildren, Brent Duggins (Lynyel) of Lancaster, Nick Adams of Lexington, and Ashley Stalion (Josh) of Lexington; great-grandchildren, Dusty Duggins, Dawson Duggins, Luke Stalion, and Hudson Stalion: siblings, Inis Davis of Lexington, Myrtle Clos of Lancaster, and Alberta Flannery of Lancaster; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Leroy, Arthur, Maurice, and Clay Davis. 

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Spurlin Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Browning and Bro. Dwayne Dasher officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens in Nicholasville. Visitation will be 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Monday, December 12, 2022 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Larry Duggins, Huey Adams, Josh Stalion, Nick Adams, Brent Duggins and Dusty Duggins. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Ashley Stalion, Dawson Duggins, Luke Stalion, and Hudson Stalion.
