Irene Murphy Lane, 79, of Lancaster, passed away April 8, 2025 at her home. She was born on June 11, 1945 to the late Jim and Alma Carpenter Murphy. Irene is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Cecil Hilton Lane. 

Irene cherished her family immensely. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a life full of faith and love. She was a faithful member of Unity Baptist Church. 

She was an exceptional homemaker. She loved to cook and experiment with new recipes. She was the business manager for her husband's business ventures and  he credits her for his success. 

Surviving are grandchildren, Ryan Lane (Jodi), Cody Lane, Danielle Bratcher (Andy), Elijah Lane, Marissa Lane and Isaiah Lane; six great-grandchildren, Natalie Lane, Luke, Chloe,and Haylee Bratcher, Kaiden Lane, and Emma Lane; a sister, Lorene Hensley (David) of Stanford; sister-in-laws, Betty Rose Cox and Brenda McCulley, a special niece Rosemary Livingood, special daughter -in-law Terri Lane Noe and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her two beloved sons, Steve Hilton Lane and Richard Anthony Lane; great-grandchild, Lane Anthony Bratcher; sister and brother-in-law, Janie and Riggs Spradlin, sister Mildred Coyle;  and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Linda Lane. 

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Meece officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery. 

Visitation will be 5-8 pm Friday, April 11, 2025 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel. 

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Brogle, Joe Brogle, Bobby Prewitt,  Joel Allen and Dr. Brian Ellis.
