Horace Sharp

Horace Sharp, 92, of Lancaster, passed away February 13, 2023 at his home. He was born on August 16, 1930 in Danville, Kentucky to the late Allyn Jackson and Mary Elizabeth Trisler Sharp. Horace is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Lee Sharp. 

Horace was a proud veteran of the US Army and fought on the front lines in the Korean War. Horace worked at various places that he dearly loved and made many friends, working at Taulbee Wholesale, National Casket Company, Garrard County Memorial Hospital, and a bus monitor for Garrard County Schools. Horace and Mary Lee loved their church, Pleasant Grove Christian Church. Horace served many roles there, as an Elder, Sunday School Teacher, and Song Leader for over 50 years. Horace never met a stranger, you would find him always sharing a story, and being so excited for his morning and afternoon bus route. His wit and love will be truly missed. 

Surviving is a sister, Mary Alice Drew of Lancaster, nephews, Mike Sharp, Eddie Sharp, Allyn Sharp, Tommy Drew, and CW Gay; nieces, Pam Fathergill, Lee Ann Greene, Brenda Townes, Libby Spurlin, Judy Black, Angela Jones and Mary Witt Sharp. 

He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers, Fred, Jim, and Lee Sharp; nephew, Charlie Sharp, and nieces, Paula Dollins and Mary Steele. 

Funeral services 11am Monday February 20, 2023 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Fred Willett and Bro. Bill Curwood officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Sunday February 19, 2023 at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Sharp, Eddie Sharp, Eddie Murphy, Chris Fathergill, James David Spurlin II and Bob Townes. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Pleasant Grove Christian Church Fellowship Sunday School Class, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Coffey, Jenny Lynn Whitaker, Dana Raines, and Garrard County Bus Garage Employees.
