Hollis Bolton, 92, of Lancaster, passed away December 1, 2023 at UK Hospital. He was born in Garrard County on November 25, 1931 to the late Clarence and Lula Coffey Bolton. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Juanita Edwards Bolton. 

Hollis worked in road construction for many years and was a lifelong Garrard County farmer, raising tobacco and cattle. Hollis loved to hunt, fish, and riding horses in the early years. He loved his dogs and tending to his garden. He was a Mason for many years and member of Bethel Christian Church. 

Surviving are three daughters, Debbie Freeman of Danville, Holly True (Danny) of Frankfort, and Betty Bolton of Lancaster; grandchildren, Chris Freeman (Jennifer) of Danville and Angela Freeman of Nicholasville and a great-grandchild, Eden Mebrahtu of Danville. 

Hollis is preceded in death by his parents, wife, son-in-law, John Freeman and sisters  and brother-in-laws, Marie King (Nathan) and Geneva Hatfield (Dee). 

Funeral services will be 1pm Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Matt Cooke and Bro. Bill Morrow officiating. Burial will follow in Lancaster Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at the funeral home. 

Pallbearers will be Chris Freeman, Billy King, Harold King, Bill Morrow, Lee Christopher, and Harold Coyle.
