Henry Pope "Lightning" Agee, Jr., 87, of Lancaster, passed away December 2, 2023 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He was born June 27, 1936 in Richmond, Kentucky to the late Henry Pope, Sr. and Mildred Applegate Agee. Surviving is his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Clark Agee.

Henry worked for the Laborers Local Union  189 for many years and was a member of Hyattsville Baptist Church. He was a proud Navy veteran, being aboard the USS Benner for most of his term. Henry was a Ky Colonel and loved watching his grandchildren play basketball. He loved his grandson and his great-grandchildren with all his heart.

Surviving is a daughter, Lisa Burkhart of Lancaster; grandson, Allen Wayne Burkhart (KayeLynn); three great-grandchildren, Matthew “Trey” Burkhart, Brianna Faith Burkhart and Alyssa Grace Burkhart. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Dwayne Allen Agee, siblings, Dora Etta Burdine, Everett Charles Agee and Kenneth Wayne Agee.

Funeral services will be 1pm Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Leonard Harrison officiating. Burial in Lancaster Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 5, 2023 from 5-8pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Bradley Barnes, Matt Harrison, Wendell Hatfield, Curt Carrier, Tommy Rector, Marty Agee, Ronnie Baker and Bro. Billy Estes.
