Glenn Dale Smith, 58, of Stanford, passed away Saturday September 2, 2023 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
He was born on May 7, 1965 in Indianapolis Indiana to the late Jaycee and Edna Lou Smith. He is survived by his loving wife, Georgetta “Jetta” Cook Smith whom he had been married to for 28 years in March.
Glenn was a dedicated member of Danville Church of God. He was a veteran of United States Air Force. He loved his Appalachian roots and was very proud he grew up in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. He enjoyed fishing and all kinds of music, especially Bluegrass. He loved the Indianapolis Colts, Kentucky football and basketball. He was a talented musician and trim carpenter. He loved his dog, Max, his little girl, and his grandchildren more than life.
Along with his wife, Georgetta, surviving are his sons, Jason (Amber) Key of Britton, South Dakota, Michael (Rhonda) Key of Somerset, Kentucky; daughter, Rebecca (Jon) Proctor of Jamestown, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Maci Key, Alanna Key, Danielle Key, Obadiah Key, Eli Key; siblings Linda (Lloyd) Sebastian of Lancaster, Kentucky, Charlene( Jamie) Whitt of East Bernstadt, Kentucky, Junior( Rena) Smith of East Bernstadt, Kentucky, Lola Smith of Lexington, Kentucky, Maggie (Johnny) of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Denver (Bethani) Smith of London, Kentucky, Stephanie (Jeremy) Montgomery of Hustonville, Kentucky, Jessica (Michael) Naylor of Hustonville, Kentucky, April (Mark) Taylor of Lawless, Indiana; and one uncle, Henry Smith of Manchester.
A host of nieces and nephews. Special nieces and nephews he loved like grandchildren, Thomas Naylor, Alexis Naylor, Madison Montgomery and Lucas Montgomery.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Darlene Smith, James Smith, Dustin Smith, Darren Smith, Roger Smith, Ricky (Slick) Smith and Marlene Thompson; daughter Bridget Gayle Key, three grand babies he is rejoicing with in Heaven.
Funeral services will be 12:30 PM Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Danville Church of God with Pastor Bryan Montgomery and Pastor Jon Proctor officiating.
Burial at Camp Nelson National Cemetery will follow the service with full military honors.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Danville Church of God.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Naylor, Michael Naylor, Jeremy Montgomery, Johnny Davis, Randy Beghtol and Josh Russell.
