Garland Dismeaux 74, of Boyle County, went to his eternal resting place Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, KY. 

He was born July 12, 1948 in Mercer Co to the late Gillis E Sr. and Olivia Dismeaux. He is preceded in death by his sister Patricia Walker and one brother Gillis E Dismeaux Jr. 

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lancaster, KY where he served as a deacon for many years. 

Garland graduated from Garrard Co High School in 1966. He later joined the United States Army on October 9, 1969 and served in the Vietnam War. He eventually met the love of his life, Sallesa and they were married for 35 years. 

He worked at BellSouth Telephone Company for 30+ years until he retired. He was always very detail oriented in his job and was guaranteed to produce a good quality of work. Garland loved to cook, listening to blues music, talking about history and enjoyed a good ole’ country western. He was nicknamed “The Duke” by his wife, for his fondness of John Wayne. 

He is survived by his loving wife Sallesa F Dismeaux, Danville, KY; one brother Gary Dismeaux, Lancaster, KY; a daughter Donna Lewis, Danville, KY; a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and relatives; and special friends William Bernard (Nobbie) Pittman, Danville, KY and Reginald (Shorty) Harris, Danville, KY.

We will forever cherish the many memories of Garland, he will truly be missed.

Funeral services will be 12 Noon Thursday, October 27, 2022 at First Baptist Church In Lancaster. Burial in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation is from 10am-12pm, Thursday.
