Errol Rodney

Errol Rodney, 74, of Lancaster, passed away February 14, 2022 in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born May 1, 1947 in Kingston, Jamaica to the late Errol and Olive Rodney. Errol was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Atkinson Rodney. 

He was a sales associate for over 20 years at Walmart in Nicholasville. Known by most as “Rodney” and to family and friends back home they called him “Slider”. You could always count on Mr. Rodney for a warming smile and a good story. Mr. Rodney loved his wife, loved his kids, loved his family and most of all he loved the Lord!  We all had our own unique special relationship with Mr. Rodney and he will be deeply missed. His memory will live on in all of us! Errol was a member of Gospel Word Missionary Church where he unapologetically worshipped and served the Lord! 

Surviving are sons, Ernest Atkinson-Rodney of California, Jeremiah Atkinson-Rodney of Lancaster, Steve Rodney of New York and Garfield Rodney of Jamaica; one daughter, Shanai (Atkinson- Rodney) Smith of Nicholasville; grandson, Jayce White of Nicholasville and siblings, Beverly "Patsy" Rodney, Novlette Rodney, Denton Rodney and Phillip Rodney. 

Funeral services will be 2pm Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Spurlin Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Wayne Smith officiating. Burial in Lancaster Cemetery. Visitation will be 12pm-2pm on Saturday.
