Doyle L. Cooper Obituary

Doyle Lee Cooper, 91, of Lancaster, passed away June 1, 2025 at Baptist Hospital in  Lexington. He was born on April 8, 1934 in Whitley City, Kentucky to the late Luther and Irene Godbey Cooper. Doyle is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mathel Dick Cooper. 


Doyle was a barber, teacher, and a fork lift driver. He also enjoyed building, repairs and was an Amateur Radio operator. He was a faithful member of Lancaster Methodist Church. 


Surviving are two sons, Roger Lee Cooper (Sue) of Indiana and Bryon Cooper of Lexington; grandchildren, Ryan Neil Cooper (Michelle), Tiffany Raye Cooper and Jacob Scott Cooper (Allison); two great grandchildren, Blaine Cooper and Emmett Ray Cooper and sisters, Mary Lou Arnold of North Carolina, Jeanette Cooper Messer (Bob) of Indianapolis and Janice Dean Cooper of Indianapolis. 


Funeral services will be 12 Noon Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joshua Wiggs officiating. Burial will follow in Science Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at the funeral home.
