Denton Whitis Obituary

Denton Whitis, 75, of Madison County, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2020 at his home. He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie of Berea. He was born on January 15, 1945 in Somerset, Ky to the late Luther and Christine Goff Whitis. 


Denton was a lifelong farmer and worked for Cumberland Wood and Chairs in Somerset for many years.


Surviving are two sons, Denton Ray Whitis(Alice) of Somerset and Gary Whitis(Donna Camel) of Berea; a brother, Clifton Whitis of Somerset; a nephew, Anthony Delaney of Lancaster; grandchildren, Dakota Herring, Leslie Herring, Jamie Herring, Tyler Ray Whitis, and Tiffany Hope Whitis; great-grandchildren, Kandice Lynch, Stoney Herring, Memphis Herring, and River James Herring. 


He was also survived by a best friend, Lisa Muncy of Richmond and his pride and joy, his dog, Little Bit.


Denton was precded in death by a son, Gerald Whitis; four brothers, Ralph, Willard, Dave, Ronald Whitis; and two sisters, Pam Whitis, and Lois Laigh.


A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Lancaster with Rev. Kenny Davis officiating. 


Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
