David Baker, 76, of Lancaster passed away at Harrodsburg Health and Rehab on May 14, 2024. 

David was born on December 25, 1947 in Stanton, KY to the late Samuel and Jewell Newsome Baker. 

He served our country in the United States Air Force.

David was a tenured math and science teacher at Garrard County High School for 12 years. He also was a teacher in Kissimmee Florida for many years. He taught photography, enjoyed fishing, traveling, books, music, and golfing.

He was a member of Hyattsville Baptist Church.

Surviving is his loving wife, Sherry Baker of Lancaster; a son, David Allen Baker (Melanie) of Oklahoma; a daughter, Briana Weicherz (Neil) of Florida; two grandchildren, Elijah Weicherz and Amber Rushing (John); step grandchildren, Emlynn Rushing and Case Rushing; two nephews, Bintzen Bellamy and Kevin Bellamy and a niece, Carmen Ryan.

Along with his parents was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Baker.

Funeral services will be held at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel on May 22, 2024 at 1:00 PM with Dr. Tim Leadingham officiating. 

Pallbearers will be Kevin Bellamy, Scotty Tuggle, Michael Tuggle, William Morgan Hays, Tracy Casey and Dan McCelland.

Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
