Collis Clark Ray Obituary

Collis Clark Ray, 94, of Lancaster, KY, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at his home. He was born on August 24, 1931 in Garrard County to the late Robert Thomas Ray and Maude Clark Ray.

Collis was a faithful member of the Maple Avenue Church of Christ, serving as a deacon and then an elder for over 60 years. He led singing regularly, and mentored young men to become song leaders as well. Everyone who knew Collis knew how much the church meant to him. He loved his church family very much.

He worked for Hesco Parts as a sales rep for over 28 years and Transportation Director for Tru-Check Meter Services for over 13 years.

Collis loved watching UK basketball, restoring classic cars, and encouraged everyone he knew to buy Fords. He hated lima beans (but would eat 7 at a time to be a good example for his grandchildren). He had the best sense of humor.

Collis is survived by his daughter, Marian (Joe) Statom; three grandchildren, Justin Statom, Brian (Kristin) Ray, and Megan Whitmer; a brother, Donnie (Gwinette) Ray; and seven great-grandchildren, Tyler and Olivia Spalding, Lauren and Ella Whitmer, and Eliza Jane, Lucie, and Samson Ray.

Collis was preceded in death by his first wife of 62 years, Vera Banks Ray, and his second wife, Faye Sweeney Ray; a daughter, Patsy Ray; granddaughter, Tonya Spalding; two brothers, Billy Ray and James Thomas Ray; and three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Hullett, Bobbie Chadwell, and Rose Holtzclaw.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Maple Avenue Church of Christ with Pastor Isaac Hall officiating.
