Charles Day

Charles Day, age 89, of Lancaster, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2022. He was born April 19, 1932 in Leslie County, Kentucky, to the late McKinley and Juda Shepherd Day.  He was also preceded by his brothers Rufus, Denver, and Henry, and his sisters Geneva Matlock and Eva Friend.

Charlie was an Army Veteran, having served in the Korean War. He then farmed in Garrard County, drove a semi all across this country, ran a service station, and retired from American Building Components.  He was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church, and will be remembered for following Matthew 22:39 (KJV) “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself”. That was never more evident than through the acts of kindness that he bestowed on everyone close to him. From mowing their grass while they were at work or leaving vegetables on their porches for them to enjoy.  He never met a stranger and enjoyed greeting people at the church always with a firm handshake and a loving welcome.  He lived with the willingness to help anyone at anytime.  He loved fishing and sitting on his porch, so to wave at everyone that went by and blew their horn.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Day, his son Robert (Martha) Day, his daughters, Judy Day, Johnetta Klotz, Debra (Darrel) Wallace, Karen Rice, and Chrystal (David) Delaney, and his many grandchildren, great-grand children, and great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, Joe, George, Johnny, Nerva Dailey and Rachel Cummins.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 5, 2022 from 11:00 AM until time of service.

Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
