Brian Daniel Switzer Obituary

Brian Daniel Switzer, 42, of Jessamine County, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026 in Berea, Kentucky. He is survived by his loving wife, Rachel East Switzer.

Brian met the love of his life Rachel in 2005 and she finally convinced him to marry her on September 17, 2011.  Brian was a sports fanatic with a particular affinity for the Green Bay Packers.  His attendance at one of the coldest games in NFL history sitting on the 50 yard line in Jan 2014 in Lambeau was one of his favorite memories.  Brian was an adventuresome spirit willing to try most anything and he and Rachel loved to watch The Amazing Race and plot out their future audition and strategy.  Brian never met a stranger and loved to know and understand people.  He met friends on planes, at the beach, in elevators and enjoyed working with the public as it was another avenue to meet people.  Brian took care in his work and wanted to not only provide for his family but to help others and handle their business with care.  Brian's greatest joy was his family.  Shortly before his death he told his wife how sad it was to watch their children grow up but how exciting it was to see who they were growing into.  He and his daughter Ella shared a love of football and he would often allow her to stay up a little later to finish a game, much to his wife's chagrin.  Brian shared his love of fishing with his son, Thomas, and they had plans to go deep sea fishing this fall.  His youngest son Owen loved to snuggle with his daddy and discuss video game strategy.

Brian gave his life to Jesus in March of 2014 and became a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.  He loved singing in the choir and with the men's group.  He has helped with numerous VBSs, church camps and Wednesday night programs.  He had a particular affinity for helping  teens and  as his kids aged, he enjoyed helping in the nursery.  Brian has taken a mission trip to Belize and recently returned from a trip to Kenya where he helped teach several teen camps.  His desire to spread the Gospel led his adult life.  He believed in not just telling people about Jesus but showing them daily through his interactions.

He is survived by three children, Eleanor “Ella” Rena Switzer,Thomas Benjamin Switzer, and Owen James Switzer; parents, Herbert and Debra Switzer of Lexington; beloved in-laws, Dexter and Ginger East of McKinney; sisters, Kimberly Lay (Beau) of Lexington, Rebecca Stamper of Winchester, and Tiffanie Walton (Jarad) of Lexington; beloved sister in law, Sarah Peavler (Josh) of Danville and beloved brother in law, Daniel East (Laura) of McKinney; nieces, Kennedy Peavler, Isabelle Peavler, Miyah East, Abi Browning, and Jacqueline Walton; nephews, Rylan Browning and Gavin Stamper and a host of special friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Stephanie East whom he often took to cancer treatments and his grandparents.
