Birdie Lee Murphy, 89, of Ohio, passed away January 13, 2026 at Enclave of Springboro in Springboro, Ohio. Birdie was born on December 31, 1936 in Boyle County to Oscar and Mattie Case Johnson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lucian Murphy. 

She was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church; she liked to read her Bible and listen to Christian music.  Birdie also enjoyed her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Surviving is a son, Gary Wayne Murphy of Lebanon, Ohio; a daughter, Deborah Noel of Richmond, Kentucky; grandchildren, Brian Noel, Heather Kirsch, Brandy Luken, Michael Murphy, and Austin Murphy; and two sisters, Mildred Powell of Alabama and Lillie Miller of Junction City. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Nellie Wilson, Georgia Bence, Brenda Burchfield, Billy Joe Johnson, Oscar Johnson, Jr., and Charlie Johnson.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday, January 23, 2026 at Spurlin Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Lancaster Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until service time at the funeral home. 

Pallbearers will be Randal Miller, Steven Miller, Michael Murphy, Austin Murphy and Brian Noel.
