In Loving Memory of Billy Eugene Ramsey age 77, passed away peacefully at his home on Polly's Bend Road Saturday, May 3, 2025. He was surrounded by his loving family. Billy was born on April 30th, 1948, in Winchester KY. He was the son of the late Floyd Freeman Ramsey and Elizabeth Todd Ramsey. He was the third of four children.
He was drafted into the Army in 1968 and served in Vietnam. In 1969 was stationed in Bindlach, Germany. He was a Sgt. E5 and was a Tank Commander. He later joined the National Guard where he served for 6 years. He was passionate about his service to his country and proud to have served.
He was a carpenter by trade and had a successful business for 28 years named Ramsey Siding and Remodeling where he serviced many homeowners in Lexington and the surrounding areas. Later in Florida, he took a position as supervisor over seeing a multi-complex housing unit for Roger B Kennedy Inc.
He grew up in Winchester Ky and moved away to Ohio for a short time then moved back to Ky. Later lived in Fl. for 10 Years. He loved to fish and hunt and ride Motorcycles-anything outdoors. It was later in life that he gave his life to the Lord, where he was a member of Forks Dix River Baptist Church. He was Ordained as Deacon in Florida, where he served at First Baptist Church of Bunnell. He loved to serve and worked on many projects and went on several mission trips to El Salvador and other areas.
Billy was preceded in death by his late parents Floyd Ramsey and Elizabeth Ramsey; and a sister, Patsy Sue King.
He was a devoted Dad to three boys, loving grandfather and great-grandfather, who was called Pop Pop by two beautiful little girls.
Billy was married to Vickie Ramsey in 1983 and had three boys. He was a devoted Husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was passionate about his family and worked endlessly to provide and care for us. He looked forward to special times and holidays that brought them all together. His greatest passion was spending time with his family, truly admirable how dedicated he was to his family. His love had no bounds.
Billy is survived by his spouse of 43 years Vickie P Ramsey; his children, Billy E. Ramsey II (Patsy Ramsey) Dr. Byrian Ramsey (Dr. Eric Martin) and Bradley S. Ramsey (Sidney Ramsey); 4 Grandsons; 2 Great-Granddaughters; one brother, Ronald K. Abney (Jimmie Lou), and one sister, Anna E. Ramsey And several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at Spurlin Funeral Home in Lancaster Ky on Thursday, May 8 2025 at 1pm. Visitation will be from 11am until service time. Burial with full military honors will be at Camp Nelson Cemetery in Nicholasville Ky. Flowers may be sent to Spurlin Funeral Home Lancaster.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Murphy, James Ramsey, Matt Pinkston, Billy E. Ramsey III, Christian T. Ramsey, Bradley S. Ramsey II, Dr. Eric Martin, Clay Lyons.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald K. Abney, Tom Chesnut, Mike Crews, Rev. Coy Day, Mark Dicken, Mitchell Woody, Rev. Mike Saunders.
