Wauneeta Colleen Lay Slaughter, 88, of Orlando, passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 at her daughter's home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Brantley. Wauneeta was born on April 6,1930 in Casey County, KY to the late Edgar and Zona Martin Lay.
She worked at Disney World in Orlando, Florida as a prep chef for many years.
Wauneeta was a founding member of Willow Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Zona Smith Moore of Lancaster and April Smith Emigh of Florida; a brother, Irvin Lay of Florida; two grandchildren, Amber Lainhart and Nathan Emigh; three great-grandchildren, Brianna Lainhart, Makenzie Lainhart, and Seth Lainhart; and four sister-in-laws, Doris Lay, Faye Lay, Christine Lay, and Flossie Smith.
Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Russell, Garnett, Maurice, and John Lay.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, January 4, 2019 at Spurlin Funeral Home with Pastor Johnny Thompson officiating. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until service time.
Burial in Manse Cemetery, Paint Lick, KY
Pallbearers are Johnny Rhodus, Billy Wayne Smith, Brian Lainhart, Seth Lainhart, Terry Allen, and Nathan Emigh.
