Rosamond H. Gleich, 88, of Lexington, formerly of Lancaster, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018 at Baptist Health in Lexington. She was born on March 18, 1930 in Pulaski County to the late George Washington and Mariah Bea Vaught Childress. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Emil "Pete" Gleich.
Rosamond was a 1948 senior class officer of Somerset High School and a member of the National Honor Society. She was an Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of two school systems, Whitehall City Schools in Whitehall, Ohio and Somerset City Schools in Somerset, Kentucky. She went on to attend University of Kentucky for 2 years, and became a broker/agent for Kentucky Central Insurance Company-Jefferson Pilot for over 29 years. She taught many college students and young adults through Bible study for over 33 years and was a member of Southland Christian Church.
Surviving is a son, George C. Heaton (Laurie) of New Mexico; two daughters, Charlee Heaton of Lexington and Rosemond Allen (Scott) of California; and grandchildren, Mariah Lee Shelton, Dorothy Frances Shelton, and James A.S. Heaton.
She is preceded in death by James F. Heaton Sr., Silas E. Coomer, and Charles I. Hood; a son, James F. Heaton, Jr.; four brothers, Lonnie, Luther, Raymond, and Daymond Childress; and four sisters, Nola Murphy, Ina Dotson, Lena Morrison, Charlene Early.
Funeral services will be 12 Noon Friday, September 14, 2018 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Simpson officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, September 14, 2018 from 10AM-12PM.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Coomer, George Heaton, Larry Duggins, Scott Bolin, Mike Bolin, and Brian K. Jessup.
