Richard "Bill" Rector Obituary

Richard B. (Bill) Rector, of Lancaster, Kentucky passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, January 5, 2019 after 89 well-lived years.  He is survived by his wife, Virginia, “Jinnie” Day Rector of Lancaster and preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Martin Rector.
 
Bill was born on August 29, 1929 in Conover, North Carolina to the late George W. and Tessie Sigmon Rector.  He grew up on eighty acres of God’s most beautiful country. 
 
An army veteran, an ardent advocate of having excellent life insurance, and a devoted husband and father to a house full of girls, Bill’s life preached a sermon of hope in Christ and service to others.  Bill was a member of Stanford Baptist Church in Stanford, KY and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Conover, NC.
 
Bill had a philosophy of loving people well, and would quickly and happily help anyone who needed it.  He will be remembered for his easy laughter, his extensive collection of ball caps, and his endless supply of wit, wisdom, and genuine affection for the people he loved.
 
Along with his wife, Jinnie, Bill is survived by four daughters, Vera Jane Caldwell (Neil) of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Susan Denise Mull (Rick) of Wesley Chapel, Florida, Deborah Ann Abernethy of Hickory, North Carolina, and Sharyn Jones of Washington state; two brothers, James Rector of Conover, John "Tut" Rector of Claremont, and sister, Shirley Rector Capps of Atlanta; grandchildren: Carey Caldwell Taylor, Leslie Caldwell, Michael, Derek, and Garrett Mull, Kendra Intihar, Breydon Abernethy, and Chelsea Ramey; and great-grandchildren: Greyson Kellett, Chandler and Collin Taylor, Dillon, Destiny, and Delany Mull, Sadie and Miles Intihar, Emmie Morrison and Ayden Abernethy, and Cali Jean and Jack Ramey and Jinnie's family, son Rick Day (Madeline) of Virginia and daughter, Cindy Dorie (Wyman) of South Carolina, 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. 

 Along with his first wife, Edna, he is preceded in death by a brother, Carl Rector and a grandson, Caine Christensen.
 
Funeral services will be 2PM Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Spurlin Funeral Home of Lancaster with Rev. Max Hester and Rev. Justin Carter officiating.  Visitation will be from 1PM-until funeral time. Burial will follow in St. Peters Lutheran Church Cemetery in North Carolina.
 
Pallbearers will be Michael Mull, Derek Mull, Garrett Mull, Breydon Abernethy, Eric Intihar, and Greyson Kellett. 
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made “In Memory of Bill” to Heritage Hospice – 120 Enterprise Drive, Danville, KY 40422.
