Joyce "Mammy" Day

Joyce "Mammy" Day, 77, of Lancaster, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018 at UK Medical Center in Lexington. She is survived by her loving husband, Coy of Lancaster. Joyce was born on November 30, 1940 in McCreary County, KY to the late Mitchell and Velma Daughty King. 

Joyce's life was the Lord and her family. Not one day went by that she wasn’t with her family enjoying their company usually on the front porch with an ALE-8. She was an amazing cook and was always cooking her family and friends their favorite foods, all they had to do was ask. She always had a listening ear, an open heart and spoke words of wisdom and encouragement. She was a member of White Oak Holiness Church. Joyce was a devoted Christian and looked forward to reading her bible everyday. She was loved dearly and will be missed by all that knew her. We love you Mammy. 

Also surviving is a son, Rodney Day of Lexington; a daughter, Karen Stacey(Mike) of Lancaster; two brothers, Bonnell King and Morris King(Betty); three sisters, Dean Lankford, Norma Jones(Hurstle) and Bessie King; two grandchildren, Shana Stacey(Michael) and Tera Edgington; six great-grandchildren, Hannah Perkins, Makayla Smith, Alexis Hollaway, Blake Durham, Brooklynn Durham, and Bentley Stacey; a special cousin, Dale Crabtree; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine King.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brent Gross officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday.

Burial will be in the Day Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Rodney Day, Michael Stacey, Mike Stacey, Timmy Woods, Keith Austin, and Kenny Ritchie.
