James Boatley Obituary
James Russell Boatley, 89, passed away Wednesday May 9, 2018 at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
Russell was born on September 20, 1928 to the late George F. and Dora Green Boatley in Garrad County, Kentucky. Although it was hard to keep up with Russell in his early adult years, in his latter years he could be found enjoying a twist of wild duck on the front porch playing cards with family and friends. Russell was the spouse of one special lady, Stella Buford of Lancaster, Kentucky.
Survivors include children, Renae (Tony) Hood, James Robert Boatley, Liz Minter, Beatrice Logan(Mike), Evon Buford, Ida Buford, Lisa Buford, June Buford, and Elvis Buford. Also surviving is one special grandson that he raised on his own, Kenton Minter. Also mourning the loss of Russell is a host of stepchildren, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Russell was also preceded in death by three children, Charlie Buford, Kenneth Pullins, and Minnie Buford; two brothers Thomas and Reuben Boatley, and a sister Margaret Beasley.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday, May 14, 2018 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service.
Pallbearers will be Arnes Buford, Dontae Logan, Kenton Minter, Tony Hood, Robert Hawkins, and Elvis Buford.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Simon Norris, Jamie Black, Damon Norris, Michael Logan, Terry Dunn, Scotty Burnside, George Beasley, Willie Clark, and James Russell.
