Donal Vernon Steagall, passed away June 1, 2018 in Danville, KY. He was born on May 1, 1934 in Olive Hill, KY. Vernon worked most of his life as a carpenter and ultimately for the Garrard County School system from which he retired. He also served in the U.S. Army. He was devoted to his family and never afraid of hard work.He enjoyed sitting on his swing on the porch in the afternoons, taking his wife out to eat at several of their favorite restaurants, and above all else, spending time with his family, most of which called him "Pap" or "Papaw".
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Jean Steagall of Lancaster, KY; his only child, Timothy(Debbie) Steagall of Lancaster, KY; two grandchildren: Christopher(Crystal) Steagall of Lawrenceburg, KY and Ashley(Andrew) Day of Lancaster, KY. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Madison and Lilly Steagall; and three step great-grandchildren, Aubry Collins, Ty Collins, and Lathyn Cornelius. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Holbert and Dicie Steagall, and all eight of his siblings, Nelson Steagall, Clarence Steagall, Claude Steagall, Billy Steagall, Loretta Erndt, Glenn Steagall, Dixie Steagall, and Jimmy Steagall.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Billy Bryant officiating. Visitation will be Monday 5-8 PM.
Burial will be at his home on Mount Hebron Road.
Pallbearers are Christopher Steagall, Andrew Day, Paul Steagall, Randy Steagall, Ben Steagall, and Mike Steagall.
