Denver Day, 95, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018 at his home. He was born July 21, 1923 in Leslie County, KY, to the late McKinley and Juda Shepherd Day. He was married to Susie Wells Day, who preceded him in death in 2010.
Denver was a Navy Veteran, having served in the South Pacific during World War II. He then farmed in Garrard County and retired from American Greetings. After retirement, he worked with his son at the Sears hometown store in Danville until three years ago. He was a member of White Oak Holiness Church.
He is survived by his children, Russell Day, Josephine (Gary) Ray, Betty (Gerald) Deaton, and Carl (Pam) Day. Grandchildren, Becky (Danny) West, Jeff (Tina) Day, Joey (Lisa) Ray, James (Michelle) Day, Kelsey (Zach) Massengill, Caitlin (Tyler) Hargis, and Cameron Day.
Also surviving are great-grandchildren: Brandon, Amber, Erin, Cody, Sierra, Savannah, Chloe, Rheece, and two great- granddaughters due in 2019. One great-great grandson, Mason; also surviving are his siblings, Charlie, Joe, George, Johnny, Nerva Dailey and Rachel Cummins.
Denver was preceded in death by two grandsons, Jamie and Scotty, along with siblings, Rufus, Henry, Eva Friend and Geneva Matlock.
Funeral Services will be 12:00 Noon Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Ronnie Ping Officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM or time of service.
Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville.
Pallbearers are Jeff Day, Joey Ray, James Day, Cameron Day, Zach Massengill and Tyler Hargis.
All other grandchildren will act as Honorary Pallbearers.
