Anna Jean Newton, 85, of Maplewood Dr. Lancaster, passed away Friday March 21, 2014 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband Cleon. Anna Jean was born July 30, 1928 in Garrard County Ky, to the late Louis and Myrtle Ross Long.
She worked at Cowdens Manufacturing for a very long time, and was school bus monitor for many years. Anna Jean enjoyed being out in her rose garden, enjoyed cooking, and loved her animals, especially her dog Sally and cat Thomas. She was a member of Lancaster Baptist Church.
Surviving is a son John Smith Newton(Dr. Terri) of Cloverport KY, a daughter Pamela Newton Ruda(Dave) of Lancaster; four grandchildren Dr. Travis Ruda(Vanessa) of Lancaster, Dr. Emily Love(Lee) of Asheville N.C., Renee Abell R.N. ACNP (Shaun) of Bardstown KY, and Lafe Newton of Lancaster; three great grandchildren, Haley Abell, Caden Ruda, Zdravko Ruda; and a neice and nephew. She was preceded in death by a brother Charles Edward Long.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday March 25, 2014 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Harold Best, and Bro. Bryce McCulley officiating. Visitation will be 5-9 PM Monday. Burial in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark May, Wayne Gastineau, David Abee, J.K. Simpson, Billy Wayne Lane, Jeff Yeakey, Jerry Yeakey.
