Obituary for Woodford Bowling

Woodford Bowling, 91, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday at Landmark of Lancaster. He was born on January 19, 1926 in Hazard, Kentucky to the late Emory L. and Anna Belle Baker Bowling. Woodford was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Killion Bowling.

He was an Army veteran serving in WWII and earned a courageous purple heart during his time of duty. Woodford was an active member of the Paint Lick Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School.

Survivng is a daughter, Patricia Kinnaird of Lancaster; a granddaughter, Tonyia Mitchell (J.L.) of Lexington; a brother, Billy Bowling (Geneva) of Madison County; and a great-grandson, James Parker Mitchell.

Woodford was also preceded in death by two brothers, William and Howard Layton Bowling, and a sister, Doris Oliver.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Morrow officiating. Burial in Lancaster Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11AM-2PM on Saturday.

Pallbearers are Roger Hatfield, Bill West, Bill Bowling, Russ Bowling, J.L. Mitchell, and Parker Mitchell.
