Obituary for Aileen Reed

Aileen Ann Curtis Reed, 81, of Lancaster, passed away January 24, 2018 at her home. Aileen was born in Chicago, IL on April 11, 1936 to the late Gilbert and Irene Curtis. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Reed.

She moved with her family to Kentucky as a child. She had a lifelong love of horses, gardening, and was a member of Forks of Dix River Baptist Church for many decades.

Aileen was known for keeping her neighbors and family supplied with tomatoes every summer. She was often referred to as the sweetest and kindest person that we knew. She also worked for American Greetings, Garrard County Stockyards, and was a wonderful caregiver.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She is survived by two sons, Douglas Reed of Lexington and Bobby Reed (Mona) of Lancaster; daughter, Cindy Barker (Ed) of Lancaster; a brother, Bobby Curtis of Stanford, sisters: Janet Pendergrass (Bill) of Danville, Gail Curtis of Lancaster, and Carol Christopher (Charlie) of Lancaster; a granddaughter, Susan Burkhart Graham of Lexington; great-grandchildren Kayleigh Burkhart and Blake Flannery; nephews and nieces, Mike Curtis, Jeff Curtis, Rodney West, Marty West, Karen Christopher.

Funeral services 1:00 PM Monday, January 29, 2018 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel With Bro. Cole Caven officiating. Burial in Lancaster Cemetery. Visitation 5-8PM Sunday, January 28, 2018.

Pallbearers are Mike Curtis, Jeff Curtis, Marty West, Rodney West, Chad Farris, and Clinton Curtis.
